The home was built for Thomas Glendinning
and Sarah Jane Glendinning and their family
James, Bessie, Nellie & Rosie, around 1908.

As co-owners of the local Ross and
Glendinning Wool mill, the Glendinnings
were a well to do and influential family
of the day. This remains apparent in the
opulence of Claremont House.
